Are you or your child keen to try your hand at fine art? Or are you already painting and want to expand your practice by exploring other mediums and styles? Our classes will not only help develop practical techniques but will also expand your art theory knowledge base. This is done without restricting your creativity or unique style.

Each class is customised to the student or group, meaning that they can be as fun or as intense as you require. The topics covered will depend on your interests and skill level e.g.  a beginner student may stick to drawing with pencils and painting with acrylic with less focus theory. Or there may be a specific glazing method which could be of interest to a more advanced oil painter.

Topics can include:

Painting:
• Oil/Acrylic theory
• Colour theory
• Practical painting techniques
• Use of different brushes, mediums, surfaces

Drawing:
• Various drawing styles (gestural/contour)
• Various still life subjects (drawing from life)
• Drawing from photos (grid technique)
• Pencils/charcoal/ink/pastel/etc

New Media:
• Software introductions (Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign)
• Design Principals
• Photographic retouching/enhancements
• Visual Effects

The teachers:
Keroshin Govender is a Visual Arts Specialist with a Bachelors Degree from the College of Fine Arts (now UNSW Art and Design), Paddington. Other teachers can be involved on an ad hoc basis depending on the interests and needs of the students. Classes are usually hosted in a working studio setting, though home visits are also available on occasion.
